Micah’s Birthday

Our good friend Micah is turning 55 this year, and invited us to play her birthday bash on their newly remodeled back patio out in Castro Valley.

We set up in the area beyond the patio, laying down plywood and carpet over the dirt. The weather has been very unpredictable this year, rainy and cold in late April. While there was no rain in the forecast for April 25, it actually started sprinkling during our break, leaving us scrambling for tarps and towels to cover all the electronics. Thank goodness it lightened up and we were able to continue!

We played a chill cocktail hour set, and then a dance set later in the evening.

An amusing highlight- Micah’s daughter and the Cal High seniors improv team “Mission Improvable” planned an after-dinner improv show. They approached us at the beginning of the party and asked if we could provide musical accompaniment for their improv act. That’s a new one for us, but we had a blast trying to match their manic creative energy with some appropriate musical choices.

Micah has such a lovely and loving group of family and friends – it was a totally wholesome and happy evening. Happy birthday Micah!
