Kim’s Mad Men 50th Birthday
Our pals Chris and Theresa were hosting a birthday party for their friend Kim’s 50th birthday. We’ve played at a bunch of parties over the years in their backyard, including Teresa’s 40th and Chris’ 50th, plus all manner of costume party and school auction party. Such a fun group to party with!
It was a Mad Men 60s theme – business suits and glamorous dresses. So we were all in white button-down shirts and ties – not our usual Drop Daddies vibe!
Kim’s husband Matt delivered an epic and hilarious speech, a tribute to Kim and their relationship. He walked in to Sledgehammer, and knocked it out of the park. Then Kim came up (to Al Green’s Love and Happiness) to say thank you, and introduce the band – amusingly riffing on Ian’s writeup on our About page.
The Leitch’s dogs were out and about for the party- tiny little Ophelia who wasn’t particularly interested, and spaztastic Moose who presented his ball to everyone and wouldn’t take no for an answer. Moose ended up sitting happily on stage with us for a few songs!
Kim had told Teresa that her favorite parties were the ones in the Leitch’s backyard when the Drop Daddies played. So that was her request for her big day. Super wholesome! Feels good for us to be a part of these milestones.
